Current Obsession: Joan Rivers

So today marks the one year deathiversary of Joan Rivers. Yes, I made the term “deathiversary” up and yes, I do have a copyright on it, and yes I’ll go full on Taylor Swift vs 16 year old girls on Etsy on you if you use it.

Anyways, I know last year I posted “An Ode To Joan” which outlined just about everything that made her the great specimen she was.

Well, it’s that time of year again because if you know me, which you probably do considering my readers consist primarily of my mom, dad, sisters and few friends, then you know I LOVE Joan Rivers. She’s the epitome of what a strong, resilient woman should be. No woman has been so indifferent to criticism since Kim Kardashian got pregnant and decided to model her fashion sense after Shamu (Remember that black and white dress? No? Google it.)

Joan broke down boundaries. She was one of the first female comedians and therefore promptly one of the first female comedians to be fired from numerous jobs. But did she stop at one rejection? No, she got back up and put herself out there again, just like Anthony Weiner.

How did she get there? She worked hard to get to where she wanted to be and then worked twice as hard to stay there. At 80 her schedule was more jam packed than a freshman girl during syllabus week. Seriously, read The Book of Joan by her daughter, Melissa, and you’ll see for yourself.

My favorite part about Joan? Her favorite joke was herself. She never missed an opportunity to show a world full of self-absorbed celebrities that she didn’t take herself too seriously. I mean, because of all the plastic surgery she’s had, the woman wanted to donate her body to Tupperware after she died.

So here’s to you Joan.

Joan Rangers For Ever.
