Current Obsession: Trends of The 2000′s

I was recently going through old pictures for my graduation party slideshow and I noticed some very interesting fashion choices I made.  Even though most of these pictures are the reason I can’t run for public office…ever, it made me nostalgic for the trends of my youth.

First we have zip off cargo pants, my personal favorite was the ever so colorful, two zip cargo pant that could frequently be found at Limited Too.

They had 3 sections, the full pant then with a single zip you had a pair of capris that’s only real purpose is to give you some mental satisfaction considering the amount of ankle it shows is useless for giving you any proper ventilation.  Then with a second zip you had a pair of shorts about as scandalous as the kids on Breaking Amish before they went rogue. Like all things that make sense in this world there’s one fatal flaw…WHERE DO YOU PUT THE ZIPPED OFF SECTIONS??

Next there’s the ever so popular double popped collar…because popping your collar once wasn’t embarrassing enough.  I mean really, what was the point? Plus, most of us rocked the Hollister version and not an actual polo shirt so the collar always ended up falling down on one side.

Finally we have the colored jelly bracelets. I’m not sure why I ever thought that purchasing enough colorful jelly bracelets to fill my entire arm was a good way to spend $100…or why my parents ever let me.  Apparently if someone took one of the black ones from you that meant they wanted to have sex with you? Maybe I was a late bloomer but in 8th grade I was too nervous to put a guy on my Myspace Top 8 let alone admit to finding them attractive.

If you were old enough to be having sex with someone shouldn’t you have been old enough to have better things to spend your money on?

When it comes to fads you need to remember one thing; trends may come and go but pictures last forever.
