For anyone who’s friends with me on Snapchat…which based on my readers is most of you, you know I went to the Sam Smith concert last night in Philly. If you want to experience the best night of your life, go to his concert. Like, I’m talking a better night than Leonardo DiCaprio had with those 20 girls he brought home from the club in Miami.
The opener was George Ezra, another Brit because you know those Brits, gotta do everything in pairs; fish and chips, Victoria and David Beckham, beer and well, more beer. Not gonna lie, besides the minor youtubing I did of George Ezra before the concert I hadn’t heard of him but man can he sing. I wasn’t surprised though, Sam Smith would never settle for some American Idol wannabe. Then it was time for Sam Smith, who is really the only man the world needs. He has the voice of an angel, the style of Joan Rivers, lyrical genius of Taylor Swift and the class of Humphrey Bogart. Essentially he’s the love child of my favorite things. He’s also nominated for 6 Grammy’s less than one year after his single, Stay With Me dropped over summer…Beyonce was also nominated for 6 and she’s been around since jean skirts and chokers were in style. Not only is he extremely talented but he’s got his priorities in order. He recently said on Instagram, “The only reason I want a boyfriend is so that when I’m singing Fergalicious and its at the part where she says ‘I be up in the gym just working on my fitness he’s my witness’ I can point to him and he’ll do the little ‘wooOOH’ part because right now I have to do both parts myself and it’s stressful because right after the wooOOH part I have to get right back into rapping and the transition is harder than you think so yeah I need a bf because of that.” Besides having someone to carry heavy things and pay for your drinks, that’s just about the best reason I’ve heard to have a boyfriend.
Sam Smith’s voice will melt your soul, his instagram will make you want to be his bff and he was invited to Taylor Swift’s birthday party which is basically the only invite you need to be considered A-list so start listening if you haven’t already.
